We have been showing off our creative talents decorating the residents zimmer frames. Research suggests that residents, especially those living with Dementia, struggle to identify their own frames which increases the risk of falls in a care home environment.

Staff and residents have been working together to create personalised frames, decorating them with ribbons, flowers and we even have a police-inspired frame too. Resident Ann previously worked as a Women’s Detective Sargent, so she suggested lights, stickers and she even remembered her number she was allocated when in the police – which now adorns the front of her frame.

Involving the residents in the process of this further enforces the ownership of their frame too.

Home Manager, Caroline Braime was excited about the project and said “Our residents safety at Ashridge Court Care Centre is paramount, and the simple process of decorating the frames further enhances this. It was a fantastic activity that brought our residents and staff together, our residents are now super proud of their frames and couldn’t wait to show them off to their family members!”
