Nursing Care

At our home we provide 24-hour care and support for adults of all ages with simple or complex needs. You will receive specialised medical support and treatment for ongoing illnesses from our expert nursing teams. As well as looking after your medical needs, our dedicated care and nursing staff will support you with key aspects of your daily life including personal hygiene, mobility, dressing, taking medication and enjoying hobbies and activities. If you have difficulty in chewing or swallowing, we offer a range of modified food options, and can support any other dietary preferences or requirements.

We have close relationships with local GPs and health teams and will bring in other professionals, as needed, to ensure that all your medical and psychological needs are met.

Dementia Care

We provide high-quality, 24-hour dementia care and our staff are extremely experienced in looking after people living with dementia. Families can be totally reassured that their loved ones will remain safe and cared for with compassion and dignity.  Because dementia is a progressive condition, we constantly assess our residents’ physical, mental and emotional health to ensure that we continue to meet their changing needs. We treat our residents entirely as individuals. For example, because dementia affects many people’s sleep patterns, making them restless at night, our carers vary our residents’ routine according to what they need. We never insist that someone gets up at a certain time. After all, this is their home, and at home we all want a lie-in from time to time!

Short Term Care

Sometimes people need a bit of extra care on a temporary basis without having to commit to a permanent move into a care home. This could be because you have spent time in hospital and are unable to go straight home. Or it might be that your usual carers cannot look after you at that point, for whatever reason, or you simply want a break from looking after yourself at home.

If you have been in hospital because of an injury or illness and still have complex needs – you are recovering from a stroke, heart attack or surgery or have lost a leg or arm, for example – the hospital may recommend that you spend some time in a care home until you are fully recovered. This is also known as convalescence.

Life at Heathlands Care Home Care Home

At our home, what you do in your daily life is driven by you, so there really is no such thing as a typical day. There is an element of routine, of course, because staff must make sure that each resident gets the care and help they need every day. But you do have a lot of choice about how you spend your time – from how you get up in the morning, to when and where you dine. And we do our best to help you to live your life in the way that you choose.
