Dementia Care

At Heathlands Care Home in Chingford, we know that dementia affects not only the individual but also their family and loved ones. That’s why our dementia care is designed to provide reassurance, comfort, and person-centred support in a safe and nurturing environment. We help residents retain their independence and dignity wherever possible while offering the specialist care they need to feel secure and valued. From assistance with daily routines to gentle encouragement during moments of memory loss, our caring team is here every step of the way.

Our home has been thoughtfully designed to support those living with dementia, with calm spaces and dedicated carers trained to understand the challenges that come with the condition. At Heathlands, we take the time to learn each resident’s story, interests, and preferences, ensuring they feel truly recognised. Through meaningful activities, stimulating therapies, and warm companionship, we aim to bring comfort and joy into each day while giving families peace of mind.

What is Dementia Care?

Dementia is a progressive condition that can affect memory, speech, and cognitive abilities, often making everyday life more difficult. However, with the right care, people living with dementia can continue to enjoy a fulfilling and meaningful life.

Our dementia care focuses on supporting residents to maintain their independence and sense of self for as long as possible. We encourage participation in activities that spark enjoyment, encourage connection, and promote overall well-being, while ensuring residents always feel safe and supported.

Dementia Care FAQs

We work closely with residents and their families to create personalised care plans that reflect their history, routines, and preferences, ensuring care feels familiar and supportive. We can help you decide when the right time to move to a care home is, and strive to help residents maintain their independence and dignity whilst offering support.

Our carers receive specialist training in dementia awareness, communication, and person-centred approaches, helping them to provide understanding and compassionate care.

Residents can enjoy a variety of dementia-friendly activities such as music sessions, reminiscence therapy, gentle exercise, and arts and crafts, all designed to promote wellbeing.

We kindly ask for one month’s notice if a resident is leaving full-time care.
