Visitors to Heathlands can’t fail to notice that a giant nurse made entirely out of post-it notes is currently taking pride of place in reception!
In case you’re wondering what it’s all about, the answer is that we participated in a competition to create a design on the theme of “When you’re smiling” against the other 10 Canford Healthcare homes.
Our residents and staff thought that this year has (unfortunately) been all about the pandemic, so we should reflect the marvellous contribution made by carers There were a number of very creative entries from our sister homes but we were named the winner!
The judges particularly liked that the nurse is crushing a Covid-19 virus under her left foot and felt that our design was especially appropriate for what has happened to us all this year. It also reflects hope – the New Year is on the horizon, and the new vaccine will shortly be with us.
